SkyDrive has entered into a development agreement with Indian engineering firm SASMOS HET Technologies to design and manufacture the Electrical Wiring Interconnection System for its SKYDRIVE SD-05 production aircraft.
The partnership tasks SASMOS with delivering a comprehensive solution that includes system design, prototyping, certification support, and readiness for serial production. As electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft utilize high-voltage propulsion and complex architectures, the wiring systems must meet rigorous standards for safety, weight optimization, and reliability.
SASMOS brings a track record of providing wiring systems for major global aerospace entities, including Boeing, Airbus, and Honeywell. This expertise is expected to reinforce the manufacturability and reliability of the SKYDRIVE aircraft as the program moves toward its commercialization goals.
Following the completion of demonstration flights at Expo 2025 in Osaka, SkyDrive is shifting its primary focus toward achieving full-scale commercialization by 2028. The integration of advanced wiring systems is a critical step in transitioning from prototype to a stable, high-quality manufacturing environment.
Tomohiro Fukuzawa, CEO of SkyDrive, said, “We are pleased to begin this collaboration with SASMOS, a partner with strong experience in aerospace wiring systems. For eVTOL aircraft, where electrification is central to both performance and safety, the design and execution of wiring systems are fundamental to building aircraft that can be produced reliably and at scale. By working closely with SASMOS, we intend to reinforce the maturity of our production aircraft and advance toward stable, high-quality manufacturing as we prepare for commercialization.”
HG Chandrashekar, Chairman & Managing Director of SASMOS, added, “We are honored to partner with SkyDrive on this groundbreaking eVTOL program. This collaboration embodies the shared vision of India and Japan to advance sustainable technologies and demonstrates SASMOS’ capability to deliver globally certified aerospace systems of the highest reliability and quality.”
The agreement aims to lay the necessary groundwork for scalable production, ensuring the aircraft is equipped for the technical demands of daily transportation as SkyDrive pursues its mission to integrate the skies into modern mobility.
