BETA to make available a pre-certified ALIA CTOL aircraft for Republic Airways’ wholly owned subsidiary for route validation and operational assessment beginning late 2025.
Companies announce collaboration to explore electric aviation performance and use cases for regional passenger and cargo operations
Paris ([Monday, June 16, 2025]) — Vermont-based aerospace manufacturer BETA Technologies has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Republic Airways Holdings Inc. under which the airline will evaluate the potential of BETA’s all-electric conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL) aircraft, ALIA for regional passenger and cargo use cases. The companies announced the agreement at the 2025 Paris Air Show, marking a significant step in their shared commitment to sustainable aviation and next-generation electric flight.
As part of the agreement, BETA will make available to Brickyard Connection, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Republic Airways, with a focus on advanced air mobility strategies, a pre-certified ALIA aircraft in late 2025 to assess aircraft performance and routes. The collaboration also includes a joint effort to evaluate aircraft performance, operational economics, infrastructure requirements, and the aircraft’s suitability for a range of regional passenger and cargo missions.
BETA’s ALIA aircraft is designed to deliver safe, quiet, and cost-effective electric flight for regional missions. With an emphasis on payload, range, and charging interoperability, the aircraft offers new potential for connecting underserved markets and reducing the carbon footprint of short-haul aviation.
“The leadership Republic has demonstrated is once again exemplified here with the launch of a collaborative evaluation of electric aircraft in their robust network,” said Kyle Clark, BETA’s Founder and CEO. “The six-seat ALIA is just an entry point for a great transformation of aircraft to an electric future.”
“We’re excited by the opportunities Advanced Air Mobility technologies represent for regional connectivity and BETA’s innovative approach to electric flight aligns with our vision,” said Matt Koscal, Republic Airways’ President and Chief Commercial Officer. “We’ve been working with BETA for the past 18 months and continue to be impressed—not just by the performance and design of their CTOL aircraft, but by the company’s leadership, culture, and values. We look forward to exploring real-world use cases and our joint pursuit of cleaner, quieter, and more efficient air travel.”
Republic Airways and BETA also plan to explore deployment of BETA’s standardized charging solutions at key current and potential future locations for Brickyard Connection, LLC, as part of a broader readiness initiative supporting future electric operations.
This year’s Paris Air Show also marked the first flight by an electric aircraft to fly at the iconic global air show when BETA’s ALIA CTOL aircraft conducted daily flyovers with multiple pilots. The flight was part of a broader European tour that began in Ireland and will include aircraft deliveries to Norway for further demonstration and testing. Earlier this month, Koscal joined BETA for the first passenger flight of an electric aircraft into a New York City airport — a milestone for Advanced Air Mobility in the U.S. and a continuation of the two companies’ close working relationship.
