Aerofugia, a low-altitude general aviation company under Geely Holding Group, has announced that production has begun for the prototype of its AE200-100 urban mobility aircraft.
The prototype is a six-seat eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) vehicle and is the first independently developed product from Aerofugia. This production milestone signifies that the AE200-100 is in the final stages of its airworthiness certification, pre-production, and eventual mass production.
The AE200-100 prototype features an “eight-rotor, four-tilted-wing” configuration. The aircraft is intended to be a piloted, all-electric vehicle for use in urban air mobility, low-altitude tourism, and emergency rescue operations. It has a range of 200 km, and its electric drive system is noted to reduce operating costs compared to traditional helicopters.
Aerofugia has already secured over 1,000 commercial orders for the AE200, with its first-year production capacity fully booked. Orders have been placed by companies including Sichuan Airlines, Hualong Airlines, Shenzhen City Transportation Low-Altitude Operational Center, and Thailand’s SIT.
The AE200 has completed its all-tilt transition flight test, and Aerofugia claims this makes it the second in the world and the first manned eVTOL in China to achieve this milestone. The company plans to accelerate the commercialization of its eVTOL products and technologies.
