AeroVecto Aviation Services and Australia-based Skyportz have entered into a strategic agreement to evaluate the implementation of AeroBerm vertipad technology within the Sultanate of Oman.
The collaboration marks the first step toward assessing next-generation ground infrastructure for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in the country. At the core of the agreement is AeroBerm, a component of the Skyportz patented vertipad system specifically engineered to manage downwash and outwash. This technology protects ground equipment, personnel, and other aircraft from the high-velocity airflow generated during electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) operations.
By controlling these airflow patterns, the system reduces the operational footprint and safety risks typically associated with rotorcraft. This capability supports the integration of AAM infrastructure into dense urban centers, smart cities, and industrial zones where traditional helipad configurations may not be viable.
Clem Newton-Brown, CEO of Skyportz, said, “We are pleased to partner with AeroVecto to bring our revolutionary patented vertipad to Oman. Together with our university research partners, we will soon be presenting detailed findings of AeroBerm’s capabilities at international forums. The results we are achieving on downwash/outwash and noise amelioration are significant.”
AeroVecto Aviation Services (AVAS) intends to study the performance of the system under the specific operational constraints of the Gulf region, including intense heat and local wind patterns. This technical evaluation will help determine how the infrastructure can be adapted to support a sustainable and future-ready mobility landscape.
Fahad Al Riyami, CEO of AVAS, emphasized the importance of this collaboration for Oman’s emerging AAM ecosystem, “Our focus is to understand what works in our environment, practically, safely, and sustainably. AeroBermTM offers a thoughtful approach to vertipad design, and this agreement allows us to study its performance in real‐world Omani settings.”
The partnership will proceed with a focus on technical exchange, site assessments, and controlled testing. These findings are expected to inform broader national efforts regarding the integration of advanced mobility solutions into the country’s long-term infrastructure planning.
