CFD Research Corporation is seeking multidisciplinary design experts in rotary-wing and advanced air vehicle design to support Army aviation airworthiness and the U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Center’s (AvMC) Technology Development Directorate (TDD).  The engineers will apply existing computational tools, develop new computational methods, and build models in specialized areas such as rotor dynamics, flight controls, flight dynamics, cost, propulsion, and parametric design to support rotorcraft conceptual, preliminary, and detailed component design activities.

  • Rotorcraft CAD and Layout Engineer Designs and evaluates advanced rotorcraft concepts using parametric CAD, trade studies, and modeling tools. Supports Army aviation research through aircraft layout development, performance assessment, multidisciplinary collaboration, and conceptual design analysis.
  • Rotorcraft Cost Engineer (Remote, TOC) Develops and analyzes rotorcraft cost models, trade studies, and conceptual designs to support Army aviation programs. Evaluates affordability, performance, and technology impacts using multidisciplinary modeling and cost-estimating methodologies.
  • Rotorcraft Design and Assessment Subject Matter Expert Leads multidisciplinary rotorcraft conceptual design and trade studies supporting Army aviation strategy, requirements development, and future concepts. Provides technical leadership, performance assessments, mentoring, and strategic guidance using advanced modeling tools.
  • Rotorcraft Design and Assessment Subject Matter Expert (Remote, TOC) Provides remote technical leadership for rotorcraft conceptual design and trade studies supporting Army aviation strategy, requirements development, and future concepts. Provides technical leadership, performance assessments, mentoring, and strategic guidance using advanced modeling tools.
  • Rotorcraft Design Applications Engineer Rotorcraft Flight Controls and Handling Qualities Engineer (Early to Mid-Career) Develops rotorcraft flight control systems and handling qualities analyses for Army VTOL aircraft, using MATLAB/Simulink tools. Supports simulation, flight testing, control law design, and evaluation of enduring (AH-64, UH-60, CH-47, and more) and future vertical lift platforms such as the MV-75.
  • Rotorcraft Flight Controls and Handling Qualities Engineer (Senior, Airworthiness) Provides senior-level airworthiness support for rotorcraft flight controls and handling qualities, reviewing control laws, requirements, and test data. Advises Army programs on safety, performance, and compliance through analysis, modeling, and technical evaluations.
  • Rotorcraft Flight Dynamics Modeling and Simulation Engineer (Early to Mid Career) Develops rotorcraft flight dynamics models and simulations for Army VTOL and enduring aircraft, including real-time piloted simulations. Uses MATLAB-based tools to support design, validation, and analysis of flight performance and control systems.
  • Rotorcraft Weights Engineer Develops and analyzes rotorcraft weight models and trends to support Army aircraft conceptual and preliminary design. Uses NDARC-based tools to assess component weights, update weight equations, and inform trade studies and design decisions.
  • Rotorcraft Dynamics Engineer Applies and develops rotorcraft dynamics, aeroelastic, and coupled aerodynamic–structural models to support Army aircraft design and acquisition. Uses high-fidelity simulation tools to assess loads, vibration, stability, and rotorcraft performance.

Aircraft Airworthiness Compliance Engineer/Analyst Provides airworthiness analysis and technical evaluation for special operations rotorcraft (MH-60, MH-47, MH-6), assessing designs, hazards, and modifications. Reviews engineering data, supports risk decisions, and ensures compliance with aircraft safety and operational requirements
