El debut de Skyfly en el AirVenture de Oshkosh da el pistoletazo de salida a un viaje por Estados Unidos en el que la FAA confirma la decisión de MOSAIC y despeja el camino para la certificación.

  • The Axe VCA (Vertically-Capable Aircraft) made its first public appearance in North America during EAA AirVenture 2025 in Oshkosh
  • The Axe was the only private electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft at the show, attracting substantial interest and new orders
  • The show coincided with final FAA MOSAIC rules being announced which allow the Axe to be certified as a Light Sports Aircraft

Skyfly’s Axe VCA (Vertically-Capable Aircraft) made its first visit to the United States this July, appearing at the world’s largest airshow: the Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual AirVenture event in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

AirVenture is the world’s largest aviation event, with over 10,000 aircraft flying into the show this year. The show drew a record crowd of 704,000, including over 2,300 international visitors from 94 countries and 901 members of the media.

Well-known for showcasing the very latest in general aviation technology, AirVenture has long been seen as one of the go-to events for private pilots from around the world. The Axe appeared on static display at Skyfly’s exhibition stand, where members of the Skyfly team were on hand to meet the public, press and prospective owners.

“Oshkosh was a great success for Skyfly – with new orders coming in, meeting up with existing customers, and a level of interest on our stand that was genuinely humbling. The biggest news of the week however has to be the new MOSAIC announcement. This is a monumental moment for Skyfly and means we are poised to be one of, if not the first electric aircraft that will be able to be certified under these new rules”

Michael Thompson, CEO, Skyfly

AirVenture also marked the start of the Axe’s US Road Trip, during which the aircraft shall continue its flight test program and carry out demonstrations to customers and government agencies.

The trip coincides with the new FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) MOSAIC rules, opening a new certification pathway and creating additional use cases for the Axe VCA.

Under the new rules, advanced 2-seat vertically capable aircraft like the Skyfly Axe can now be certified and operated in the Light Sport Aircraft category in the United States. This removes the need for complex and costly Part 23 certification, allows the Axe to be flown by pilots who hold a Sports Pilot Certificate rather than a full Private Pilot License, and makes owning a high-performance personal VCA a more practical reality.

Additionally, the new MOSAIC rules will also allow Light Sport Aircraft like the Axe to be used for commercial purposes – something that was previously heavily restricted in the Light Sport category. The rules introduce additional commercial opportunities for sport pilots and their aircraft, such as aerial photography, infrastructure inspection and crop monitoring.

“Our strategy of targeting the existing private pilot market first has paid off as the new FAA MOSAIC rules open the door for light eVTOLs in the US to get to market well before the larger commercial air taxi concepts. This feels like a springboard moment for Skyfly. The timing couldn’t be better, the market is real and the Axe is ready to lead.”
