AIR’s newest U.S.-based eVTOL prototype has received an FAA Experimental Airworthiness Certificate, enabling expanded flight testing at the company’s facility near West Palm Beach, Florida.
The site is rapidly becoming a central hub for AIR’s U.S. operations, where the team will validate performance, safety, and real-world operability while hosting demonstrations for key partners and stakeholders.
This milestone strengthens AIR’s position in both the civilian and national mobility sectors, aligning with the recent U.S. Executive Order promoting domestic eVTOL production. The company’s technology spans multiple domains, from piloted personal aircraft to uncrewed cargo platforms designed for contested logistics and humanitarian missions.
Rani Plaut, CEO and Co-Founder of AIR, said, “The Airworthiness Certificate is a green light for us to expand our U.S. footprint. We’re proud to be advancing sustainable flight and shaping the future of mobility.”
Matthew Smith, Director of Airworthiness and Certification, added, “Working closely with the FAA has been instrumental. This collaboration is key to safely integrating electric aviation into the U.S. airspace.”
At the core of AIR’s innovation is a versatile eVTOL platform tailored for both personal and commercial applications:
- Piloted two-seater – optimized for everyday flying
- Uncrewed cargo version – supporting logistics, defense, and disaster relief
Key specifications include:
- Flight time: 1 hour per charge
- Payload capacity: 550 lb (250 kg)
- Top speed: 155 mph (250 km/h)
- Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) capability
Looking ahead, AIR is preparing to deliver 15 uncrewed cargo eVTOLs within the next year, while advancing toward fulfilling over 2,500 pre-orders for the piloted AIR ONE. With the FAA’s new MOSAIC ruling expanding certification standards to include eVTOLs, AIR is on track to become the first OEM to achieve LSA certification.
By combining regulatory momentum, manufacturing scale-up, and multi-domain platform versatility, AIR is positioning itself at the forefront of the Advanced Air Mobility revolution, making electric flight accessible for people, businesses, and governments worldwide.
