Zo is de P&amp;W100 turbopropmotorenfamilie, die wordt gebruikt door vliegtuigen zoals de ATR 42\/ATR 72, verkrijgbaar in vermogens van 1,3 MW tot 3,7 MW.<\/p>\n<p>De testcampagne op de locatie van GE Aerospace in Peebles, Ohio, simuleerde verschillende vluchtfasen zoals taxi\u00ebn, opstijgen, klimmen en kruisen, waarbij de elektrische aandrijflijn de propeller met succes hielp aandrijven en stroom genereerde voor de accu. De aandrijflijn bestaat uit motor\/generatoren, stroomomvormers en -regelaars ontwikkeld door GE Aerospace, evenals propellers en tandwielkasten van GE Aerospace dochterondernemingen Dowty en Avio Aero.<\/p>\n<p>Het aandrijfsysteem wordt aangedreven door een GE CT7-motor en maakt gebruik van batterijen geleverd door BAE Systems. Boeing-dochteronderneming Aurora Flight Sciences leverde de gondel.<\/p>\n<p>De motor is ontwikkeld en het testprogramma is uitgevoerd in het kader van het US$253m Electrified Powertrain Flight Demonstration-project van de NASA, dat in 2021 van start ging en later dit jaar wordt afgerond.<\/p>\n<p>Arjan Hegeman, vice president voor de toekomst van vliegen bij GE Aerospace, zei: \u201cDe grondtest is een belangrijk keerpunt in ons begrip van hybride-elektrische aandrijflijnen voor de luchtvaart en een fundamenteel bouwsteen voor de toekomst. Stap voor stap bewijzen we de hybride-elektrische motortechnologie voor de volgende generatie commerci\u00eble vliegtuigen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hybride-elektrische systemen zouden ook gebruikt kunnen worden in nieuwe vliegtuigmotorenarchitecturen zoals de open fan, de configuratie die wordt ontwikkeld voor het Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines (RISE) programma. RISE wordt geleid door CFM International, een 50-50 joint venture tussen GE Aerospace en Safran Aircraft Engines.<\/p>\n<p>In december 2025 hebben GE-ingenieurs in Peebles met succes een Passport-turbofanmotor getest die ge\u00efntegreerd was in een hybride-elektrisch systeem, een opstelling die gebruikt zou kunnen worden in een narrowbody passagiersvliegtuig.
